Black and White Blog Hop….Day 1

Today is the first day of the Black and White Blog Hop hosted by Carla of Creatin in the Sticks. It’s going to be a fantastic day of awesome quilters and sewers.

For my project I picked a wonderful pattern by Betty Alderman called Tree of Life. You can get a free copy here.

When I think of black and white, I think right and wrong or good and evil. Which is why I picked the Tree of Life to interpret black and white.

The Tree of Life has different meanings depending on the culture. In Christianity it represents the tree of good and evil. According to what I have researched the term, Tree of Life is mentioned 11 times in the Bible.

I still have some work left to do. I need to finish the embroidery and add the borders.

I hoped to have my project done but December/January was a tough month. My Dad’s battle with cancer ended 3 weeks ago and my motivation has been low.

I will continue working on because I am determined not to have any new UFO’s sitting in my sewing room this year.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I sew appreciate you being here. Please visit everybody on today’s hop list. It’s going to be a great day.

Nuts About ? Blog Hop

There are lots of things I’m nuts about. Goofy, Hello Kitty, gardening, star blocks, just to name a few. When deciding on a project for this hop I went back and forth, then back again. I almost couldn’t do it. I was trying to make a quilt project but I couldn’t do it. The problem was….when it comes to sewing projects, I’m a doll maker. I absolutely love-making dolls, prim ones to be exact. Now, I don’t do the scary ones. Trust me, there some scary primitive dolls. You may know what I’m talking about.  I can’t make those. I like pretty, cute  dolls.

Meet & Greet Stitchers Around the World……

Thanks for stopping by today! I’m so excited to introduce myself and share a few of my favorite projects. Thanks Mdm Samm for putting this Meet and Greet together.

My name is Theresa and I come from a family of stitchers and sewers. Oddly enough, no one taught me how to stitch. I did however spend many hours watching my mom as she stitched and lots of time admiring my Great Aunt’s many embroidered blocks and quilts. This is were my love for stitching began.

Guess what we got today (Nov. 11)? Snow!! It’s our first snow day. It wasn’t just snow from over night but it also snowed all day. It was a really light, wet snow. Very nice.
So I took my pictures again outside. It made for very lovely pictures.
So first up is what I received from Carol of Just Let Me Quilt.
