I really have been overwhelmed with completing DIY projects here in and outside the house this summer. Even with that I need to take some time to complete my UFO’s as well. I have a few really old ones. As I blogged about in my last post for my last FNSI results I’ve been working on my Prairie Flower blocks. I’ve almost got my applique pieces ready to glue baste on to my next block.

Goal Setting for July…..A Year of Lovely Finishes
I’ve never participated in A Year of Lovely Finishes but have wanted to. Since there are only 6 months left of this year I’m going to jump and do my best.
My goal for July is to add borders to a wall hanging I started many years ago. I had took a class at one of my local quilt shops for the pattern Celtic Hearts designed by H.D. Designs. I finished the applique but never got around to adding the borders and backing.

When I started to plan my project I just kept going back to when I was little. I’d draw pictures of valleys and mountains with little flowers and grass, up in the corner I’d put a bright sun. I’m sure many of you did the same thing when you were little and know a similar memory. Well thinking about April Showers this is the memory that wouldn’t leave my mind.
My First Paper Piece Block
I’ve been told for years that I should try paper piecing. They said “you’ll love it”! You know what? Everybody was right, I love it! At first it was a little confusing getting the placement of the fabric right. I had to cut the tape measure strip…3 x’s. After I got the fabric flipped in my head right, it was okay! Besides this BOM, I’m definitely will be doing more paper piecing!
