Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange

I’m so glad you stopped by. I’ve been working on my project in the spare time I have with my “day job”. The pattern is called Candy Cane Biscornu by The Blue Flower. It’s not available at this time I think. It was designed for a class that was held during ‘The Jingle Ball‘ last weekend. I didn’t have it ready for the class unfortunately but now I’m almost done with it. Just needed a little more time. A couple of days of spare time stitching after work and I think it will be complete. It’s going to be so sweet.

When Pigs Fly Sew It – Show It

The challenge for this Blog Hop was to sew up a PIG’s – Projects In Grocery sacks, UFO – Unfinished Project or a WIP – Work In Project. WIP’s I don’t have any but UFO’s there are plenty. Actually, around 30 I think. Now, that may not sound too bad to some quilters. As far as I’m concerned that is way too many. I live in an apartment now and don’t have the room to be storing UFO containers. All my UFO’s need to be sewn up and quilted. When I noticed the gals were hosting a Sew It – Show It challenge for PIG’s, UFO’s & WIP’s, I decided to join since I had a UFO up on my flannel wall already. Why not, I hadn’t joined in a challenge since last year.

Time In a Bottle Blog Hop

When Carol at Just Let Me Quilt posted for sign up’s I chose to join because I wanted a reason to make these hourglass blocks. I haven’t made to many and I’ve had some trouble with them in the past. So I decided to give them another try.

Making the blocks, I paper pieced them hoping to give myself a chance to be more on point with the blocks. It did help a lot.

Polar Bear Plunge

Joan of MooseStash Quilting, challenge of making something inspired by polar bears, blue, or cold got me to thinking about my Wooly Adventure blocks. They needed to be moved from the WIP’s pile to the working pile. This hop was a good time to do just that.

These wooly blocks are from 2016. So that’s like 6 years ago. Long time. Only two of the blocks are still available from the research I did. Most of the blocks were 8″ in size but a few were 10″. The backgrounds that came with the kits varied and didn’t work well together. Because I wanted to put them in a quilt, that was a problem for me. So I decided to just them on coordinating flannel backgrounds and use a cream flannel to border the 8″ squares to sew up to the 10″ blocks.

Fairy Tales Blog Hop

Thank you so much for stopping by. I’m so happy to participate in this weeks hop.

When planning for the hop I had several different ideas. First the watercolor dream I have of one day starting my painting again. But, this is a sewing group and I didn’t think anyone would have been interested in that.

Then there was the Little Red Riding Hood cross stitch project I could do. Problem is I’m not a fast stitcher. I wouldn’t have been anywhere close to being finished. That brings to mind another dream. Starting projects I can finish. Seriously, who am I kidding? Being a finisher is a Fairy Tale.

So I decided I would use my embroidery machine to start a project that would give me finished blocks to show and I could just decide how to finish it later.
