Nifty Novelties Blog Hop

Today is Day 1 of Nifty Novelties Blog Hop! I excited to be back to blogging and blog hopping.

Thanks to Marian of Seams To Be Sew for hosting.

Thanks also to our sponsor Timeless Treasures.

Novelty fabrics are a great way to theme any project. Whatever you are into there is a novelty fabric for it. There are a variety of options when it comes to using them in projects. Novelty fabrics are not limited to just quilts either. They are great choices for bags, pillows, clothes, curtains, and so on.

For my project I choose to make pillowcases. The men in my life love them. It’s amazing how such a simple project can make them so happy. That’s because novelty fabrics personalize.

Over the years I have bought novelty fabrics that I know my husband and boys love. My husband is into anything space related. He also loves the licensed fabrics that are movie themed. My oldest son is into anything computer related and my youngest love vintage superheros.

For this hop I made two pillowcases from fabric I had in my stash. I bought these fabrics years ago but they are still beautiful in it’s patterns. Some novelties are timeless.

For my husband I used fabric called Outer Space by Camelot Fabrics.

For my oldest son I had some computer graphic fabric in my stash from Timeless Treasures. I don’t remember the name of it. So sorry.

I choose a decorative stitch to fancy it a little.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

  1. Entering today from Bumbleberry Stitches! Our quilt guild has done pillowcases as a project for a children’s home several years ago. This year we’re making them again, but this time for the women’s center. Thanks so much for the chance to win!!

  3. Every few years I find a novelty that lends itself to pillow cases and make them for the family for Christmas. They love them! I like your edge stitching, I might have to try that. Thanks for sharing.

  5. We went to a yard sale in Florida one day and I purchased a LOT of fabric in (3) underbed totes!! Got a great deal – a lot of it was novelty — so I made pillow cases and donated them to a pillowcase challenge!! So much fun.

  7. I like both, but am partial myself to the space fabric. I love that you did pillows that’s such a cool idea and one I almost always forget about. Thanks so much Theresa, it’s good to see you back blogging again.

  9. I tend to forget about pillowcases! Great idea. I think using novelty prints in a quilt can be a challenge, other than for backing or border. Thanks for sharing!

  12. I love making pillowcases for all the little ones in my life for holidays or special occasions. Often I will personalize the band with the name of the child. Visiting at Bumbleberry Stitches.

  13. I am entering at Bumbleberry Stitches today. Pillowcases are really the easiest gift to make using novelty fabrics because you can match up the gift to a person.
