The challenge for this Blog Hop was to sew up a PIG’s – Projects In Grocery sacks, UFO – Unfinished Project or a WIP – Work In Project. WIP’s I don’t have any but UFO’s there are plenty. Actually, around 30 I think. Now, that may not sound too bad to some quilters. As far as I’m concerned that is way too many. I live in an apartment now and don’t have the room to be storing UFO containers. All my UFO’s need to be sewn up and quilted. When I noticed the gals were hosting a Sew It – Show It challenge for PIG’s, UFO’s & WIP’s, I decided to join since I had a UFO up on my flannel wall already. Why not, I hadn’t joined in a challenge since last year.
So, the UFO project I worked on is the BOM from Shabby Fabrics named Blessings of Summer. It was released last year. The pattern is no longer available. This was the only full size quilt I worked on last year. Looking back at my blog I see I made a quilt block and put together some wool applique projects, but that was it for quilting. There were some cross stitch projects, though, honestly I don’t remember. It was a hard year for me. I needed to take time to adjust to being single again after the divorce. I barely did anything but pray, fast, and pray. That my seem a bit of an exaggeration cause I did also work a little, eat, and all the normal things. I also did spend time planning and dreaming of stitchy things. But, there was a lot more time spent in prayer. I did make it through and maybe one day I’ll talk more about it. For now, it’s good that I’m now starting to get my stitching desire back. Little by little.

I didn’t think about it last year but it was fitting to work on a quilt titled Blessings Of Summer.

I had gotten all the blocks together with exception of this one, the last block.
This quilt is just the sweetest. All the pieces were laser cut and I fused them down. Making it so easy to put together.

I machine stitched it down with exception of the last block. That one was hand stitched down after fusing of course.
Now this was the reason when I seen the BOM I had to do it.

I love those 3D pinwheels and quilt line. They are not permanently attached yet. The quilt is still in need of quilting. At this time I’m only concerned with turning my UFO’s into quilt tops. One container to hold those quilt tops would be better than stack of unfinished quilts. That’s what I say now, lol. I’m sure later I’ll be saying ‘I need to do something about those quilt tops.’ Ha,ha…

Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing what I have been working on and up to. Appreciate you so much.
Thanks so much Joan of Moosestash Quilitng for hosting.

This is a very warm and sweet quilt. The first picture didnt have the pinwheels and I really tried to figure out what the 3 sticks represented. The pinwheels are wonderful and fun and the quilts on the line are a quilters dream. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I love seeing you back to sewing and sharing. Taking time to heal was good for you, though. I’m just sorry you had to go through it. As for that adorable quilt…love it! It’s so fun and happy looking! I think having a bin full of finished quilt tops is way better than bins full of “what the heck do I do with all of these UFO’s.” I need to start a bin like yours! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Carol for your encouragement, I am happy to get back to sewing. Finished quilt tops are so much more satisfying than UFO’s. UFO’s feel so overwhelming just looking at them.
