Welcome to day 2 of the Color It Red Blog Hop hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to use the lay cake Little Sweetheart by Laundry Basket Quilts that I have been saving….

to make the pattern Sweetheart also by Laundry Basket Quilts.

I had every intention of finishing but with work and home improvement projects, that didn’t happen. It is a simple project so I’m sure I will be able to finish it soon.

The fabrics are just beautiful. I used Little Sweetheart for the hearts. The background fabrics are a mix of Little Sweetheart and various other fabrics from Edyta Sitars other fabric lines.

Turning the edges under, then using fusible web, and then hand stitching the edges down with the button stitch is becoming my favorite method.

I need to make a couple more blocks and then finish the stitching. Then I can sew the blocks together.

  10. Your hearts are so pretty! A great fabric and a great pattern put together. How do you add the fusible after turning the edges under? I don’t think I have heard of that technique?

  18. Your quilt is looking great!! Are you doing the applique by hand or machine? I always lock down my fusible using the blanket stitch on my machine or make sure I quilt it down well. Looking forward to seeing this quilt finished!

  26. Oh my! Your applique blanket stitch makes this such a beautiful quilt. I don’t know how that laundry basket fabric line got by me but it is lovely, i will be searching for it today online. Thank you for inspiring me today.

  27. Those fabrics are perfect for that quilt. Congrats on hand stitching all those heart appliques–that takes a lot of time (nice in-the-car or in-front-of-the-tv work though). You will have a lovely quilt! Thanks for sharing!

  28. Love how these blocks are coming along especially the hand stitching down of the hearts. This will be a wonderful quilt when it’s done. Aren’t these hops great for getting us to work on projects we have on our waiting lists.
