Stitch It and Gift It Blog Hop

Welcome to my day of the Stitch It and Gift It Blog Hop. Thanks so much to Carla of Creatin in the Sticks for hosting. It’s been great to see all the stitched gifts so far.

For this hop I wanted to try something I’ve never done before, a zip pouch. I’m probably one of the few who has never made one. Things with zippers have always intimidated me.

I watched a lot of youtube tutorials and came up with a pouch from some the ideas I liked. My pouch is 8×10. I did some simple top stitching/quilting and boxed bottom. I did make a few mistakes and my zipper isn’t sewn exactly straight. Over all not bad for my first zip pouch.

This pouch will be gifted to my mom. She loves bags of all kinds, especially pouches. She stores all kinds of things in them. I know she is going to love the fabric too. Like me (or me like her) she loves black. It’s her favorite behind emerald green. Black was the safer color though. Every time I try something with emerald green it’s not quite right. Lol I guess that’s were I get my pickiness.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. It was fun making this pouch and I can see more of these in my future. Possibly for my nieces as well as myself.

  2. Wonderful bag! Zippers are hard, but after a few tries you’ll get the hang of it. Meanwhile your bag is gorgeous and it will make the perfect gift. Love those fabrics.

  7. I love it and know exactly what you mean with zips!!!! A lot of the bags I make are drawstring for that very reason but I think you did a great job. I always try to make something small to practice a particular thing and I am so glad that You Tube is around as I am definitely a visual learner!!!!. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Susie xx

  8. Your bag is gorgeous!! Mom will definitely be happy with that!! I used to be able to sew a zipper into a dress back…I used to make all my own clothes. It has been decades since I put a zipper in anything, so I think the time has come for me to try them again, in a pouch like yours!!! Thanks for participating in the blog hop!
