Making Some Design Boards

Finally got some time to get my post up. Friday night I worked on making some design boards. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. I idea of the design boards come from Lori Holt of Bee In My Bonnet.

She even has a video (here) on these. They really aren’t hard to make. Actually it was fun.

I didn’t have any batting pieces large enough for this project, so I used flannel instead. It worked out really well.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. These design boards look so useful, I’ve had the tutorial pinned for ages but haven’t got round to making them. i love the colour scheme that you chose.

  2. Your boards look great! I made a whole bunch a few years ago, both with and without the fabric edging. I ended up making them in all sorts of different sizes, from 6″ squares all the way up to 15″ squares, as well as some longer rectangular boards for when I’m piecing border sections. The boards, in whatever size, have become an absolute staple in my sewing room – wouldn’t want to be without them anymore! Enjoy yours…
