Dare to Dresden Blog Hop

Yay! Today’s my day. Thanks to Christine over at Quilt Monster In My Closet for cheerleading this hop and to Mdm Samm as well!

I have to admit that I have never done a dresden plate before. I actually like them and I think I’ll probably do more now that I think I got the hang of it. This dresden wall hanging I designed in my EQ7 program. I had to keep it simple cause I’m still learning how to use my EQ7.

I used fabrics from my stash and purchased the blue background new. The white fabric was left over from the small wall quilt I made for In Your Words blog hop. I’ve been working hard to resist the urge to buy new fabric and use more from my stash. I wasn’t able to get the brown border on but that is something I do later when I find the right fabric.

For the pedals and the blades I used templates and turned the edges using the starch & press applique method. For the pedal center medallion I added some of my machines embroidery stitches. The little center dresden flower is partially fused down to give it a 3d effect.

  1. Theresa, very pretty, I love the smaller blades you made for the centers. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing in the blog hop. Happy stitching, Pauline

  2. I love the way you combined the different types of blades into one project and made them play together so well!!! Great job!!!!

  3. Beautiful! Great design! Love the center – I suppose that is called a double Dresden – a plate on top of a plate. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Theresa dear, I adore your quilt. I love the colors and design very much. I love the 3-D flower!!Thank you very much for sharing your inspirational project

  5. You did a Double Dare! Wow! Great Job for your first Dresdens, you did fantastic! Thank you for participating; Hugs and Happy Hopping.

  6. I adore the layering of the Dresdens in your center block. Not only did you layer but you also used different points on the Dresdens for a great effect. You are a very talented designer and to think you claim to be a new user of EQ. WOW! The fabrics are beautiful, too. Thank you for participating in the blog hop and inspiring me and I'm sure many others also.
